Head of Campus (Primary)
I’d like to extend a special welcome to all the new families to our College and hope your child has settled in well, making new friends and enjoying the learning opportunities we offer.
It was especially great to welcome our new Prep students to school. It is always special to see the oversized bags and uniforms walk through the gates attached to excited young Preppies as they start their schooling adventures with us. Some of them were up very early, eager to start the day, some were a little hesitant and some had a few tears to start with. The beginning of and ending to school is such a special time for both students and families. These are memories that will be recalled in thirteen years’ time when our current Prep students graduate from school.
Staff have been working hard to get the year off to a smooth and fun filled start and I ask that you support them where ever possible. Please ensure to keep the communication lines open with your child’s teacher so that they can support the learning journey for your child effectively.
Parent teacher interviews will be held in Week 9, Tuesday 19th March. Information on booking an interview will be forwarded in the coming weeks.
Year 4 and 6 students will be attending our swimming program this term (Week 3 – 9). Please ensure permission and payment is finalised as soon as possible.
NAPLAN 2024
In 2024, NAPLAN will occur in Term 1. If your child is in Year 3 and/or Year 5 you will have received an email recently with information in regards to this. In brief:
- Dates for NAPLAN – Week 8/9 in Term 1.
- BYO Devices – Year 3: iPad, Year 5: Laptop
- Ensure your child has headphones that work with their device (this is on the stationery list)
- Ensure the NAP Lock down browser has been loaded on to your child’s device (details in email)
Attendance
Each term our target attendance is 95% or above. Every day your child misses or turns up late is a day or hour that they cannot get back.
Also, some children are arriving very early to school. Children should not be at school before 8:15am. Please contact OSHC if you require before school care for your child.
Uniforms
I would also like to remind parents that RSC is a uniform approved school and all students are required to attend school in full uniform. If for some reason your child is unable to wear their full uniform, please contact your child’s teacher in the first instance by email or note. Full details of uniform requirements can be found on our website.
School Photos
Primary Campus photos will be taken on the 21st and 22nd March, 2024. See "School Photos" article below for more details.
I look forward to a successful 2024 year full of learning, fun and connecting with families as well as seeing our students achieve new goals, whatever they may be.
